Our Story

More Than Four Decades of Making Beds

Our story began in Yorkshire in 1979.

What started with handcrafted furniture developed over the decades into a deep understanding of beds, mattresses, upholstery and the materials that make them perform.

More than forty years later, that experience still shapes The Natural Collection.

We believe a well-made bed should not simply look good on the day it arrives. It should be thoughtfully constructed, comfortable to live with and made with an understanding of how every component works together.

That understanding only comes from making.

Knowledge Passed Forward

Bed making is a combination of materials, engineering and human judgement.

Over the years, practical knowledge has passed from one generation of makers to the next. Alongside traditional skills, we have introduced modern manufacturing techniques, new materials and more precise methods of construction.

We do not believe heritage means refusing to change.

It means understanding which traditions remain valuable, while continuing to improve the way we make.

That balance between experience and progression sits at the heart of The Natural Collection today.

Built Through Experience

More than forty years of manufacturing teaches you where quality matters.

Sometimes it is visible: the tailoring of a mattress border, the proportions of a headboard or the finish of an upholstered bed.

Often it is hidden: the strength of the framework, the spring specification, the way comfort layers are arranged or the way different materials are allowed to work together.

These are details that rarely appear in a photograph.

They are also the details that often make the greatest difference over time.

Made for the Way You Sleep

There is no single mattress that is right for everyone.

Body shape, sleeping position, preferred firmness and personal comfort all influence what feels right.

That is why The Natural Collection offers different constructions rather than one universal solution.

From straightforward pocket-sprung mattresses through natural latex and richer natural fibre combinations to our most traditionally constructed mattresses, each collection represents a different approach to comfort.

The purpose is not to make choosing more complicated.

It is to make the differences easier to understand.

 The Next Chapter

Our manufacturing story began in 1979, but The Natural Collection is not intended to be a reflection of the past.

The experience accumulated over more than four decades gives us the foundation to keep improving what we make: better considered constructions, better use of materials, clearer choices and beds designed to provide lasting comfort.

Methods change. Materials develop. Expectations move forward.

The principle remains the same.

Make it well. Understand what goes inside it. Never stop improving it.
